New Hardware Gives Cabinets New Life

by | Kitchen, Other Projects

There are few things that modernize a kitchen so quickly and effectively as simply changing out your cabinet and drawer hardware. It is also an inexpensive upgrade that can be done in an hour or so. Or, if you are stretched for time like me, just keep the box of new hardware in the kitchen and switch one out whenever time allows!

My silver kitchen cabinet handles and drawer pulls were ok, and not even horribly dated as the kitchen is relatively new. But they were boring, they often somehow got stuck on my clothes, and were also annoying to clean. This led me to seek out a new solution, and in doing so I received the unexpected bonus of a truly reinvigorated space.

We get so used to the staples in our home like our kitchen hardware that they almost become invisible to us. When we pay attention and update it to something more modern, that spark of newness refreshes the whole room!

The best about this revamp is that there are loads of style options for pull bars in a variety of color options. While old fashioned brassy gold has a dated look, a modern brushed goal or champagne color reinvigorates the look and adds far more flair my boring silver ones had to offer.

A Brighter and Newer Look for Cabinets

To achieve my cabinet hardware upgrade, I turned to Wayfair because I wanted handles in a big pack that would fit all of my cabinets and drawers. I settled on 3 ten-packs of new pulls in Golden Champagne, which is the perfect gold-but-not-too-much color! The pulls have a nice weight to them and go on easily, with the necessary screws included. Reviews are generally positive, and I love my new pull bars so far! My family is not gentle on them either, and they still look shiny and new.

What I used:

On sale, the 10-pack I purchased was less than $20, so this is a room transformation in the ballpark of a $50 expense!

Your kitchen may not have the same kind of pulls, so pick out the right option for you. Always be sure to measure (mine are a center-to-center measurement of 3 inches – and 4 inches is also common). Yours may be different, so be sure to check before ordering for a perfect fit in your space!
